What Is
Treatment Like?

Step-by-step, what to expect when you choose dental implants.

About Implant Treatment

Now that the many benefits of dental implants are being widely recognized, the procedure is becoming more and more commonplace. Over the past decades, advancements in implant technique and technology have streamlined the process and improved the patient experience. Implant surgery has an extremely high success rate. You can expect that your new teeth will be virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth–to both yourself and others.

The treatment process:

The first phase of dental implant treatment involves gathering diagnostic information. This often includes 3D imaging of the teeth, gums, and bone. At this stage, our doctors will also educate you about the treatment options available and help you choose the one that best suits your needs.

Your treatment plan will be developed based on your specific circumstances. In the most straightforward cases, the implant process can be completed in only a few visits. For other cases, your treatment plan may include several visits and a longer duration of treatment. Finally, some candidates may require bone grafting procedures before implant surgery to enhance integration and maximize the strength, stability, and esthetics of the implant.

Whether you need to replace one tooth or several teeth, there are two basic approaches to dental implant placement:

  • Standard placement: This is a two-stage process that happens over a few visits. On the day of your surgery, the implant is placed, and you are fitted with the initial restoration. Your permanent restoration is placed once the implant has completely integrated with the jawbone (through a process called osseointegration). This can take several weeks to several months depending on the circumstance.
  • Immediate Load Implant Procedure: This procedure allows patients to receive new implants and their temporary abutment and crown on the same day.

Our team will weigh a number of factors with you in order to determine which procedure is best suited for your particular case.
