About Home Care Education

In addition to regular dental visits, good oral hygiene at home is essential to help your smile last a lifetime. By caring for your teeth, you’re making an investment in yourself that will pay huge dividends in your confidence—not to mention aid in preventing expensive dental problems in the future.

At Hingham Dentistry, we are committed to taking an active role in educating our patients about home dental care practices. Our helpful, knowledgeable staff is happy to provide useful information, demonstrate correct brushing and flossing techniques, and answer any questions about maintaining your oral health. We can also help address special concerns, such as dealing with tooth sensitivity, choosing a mouth guard, or caring for dental restorations.

We want you to be involved and interested in your dental health, so we’re dedicated to the making it fun and easy to understand. Together, we’ll keep your teeth looking and feeling great.

Things you can do to prevent tooth decay and gum disease between cleanings:

  • Brush twice per day for at least two minutes each time
  • Floss daily
  • Eat a well-balanced diet
  • Avoid sugary drinks and snacks
  • Continue getting regular dental exams and cleanings
  • If you smoke, try to quit
