Corylynn Byrne is one of the few people who can say that a career in dentistry literally walked into her life. Originally trained in the culinary arts, Corylynn was working at a catering business when Dr. Rustam DeVitre noticed her warm and helpful demeanor. He offered her a job at Hingham Dentistry as an assistant to his wife and colleague, Dr. Virginia Shahinian. Dr. DeVitre was confident that Corylynn would love the dental field, and he was right. She has been with the practice since 2013 and cannot imagine her life without it.
For Corylynn, the switch from whisks and knives to dental tools was a natural one. Both careers are very hands-on, which she loves, and both require great focus, patience, and hand-eye coordination. Dentistry, like cooking, can be very creative and challenging to the mind. Every situation is unique and needs to be approached with genuine care and attention in order to achieve the best outcome. Each day is different, and every patient has different needs and requires an individualized approach, which Corylynn is happy to provide.
Corylynn is very social and loves getting to know her patients. She knows what it’s like to be a patient, so she understands the concerns and questions people might have when they visit. She always strives to listen closely and understand their needs and is always ready with a hug or a story to keep patients smiling through their treatments. Maintaining a positive attitude and providing a great experience is important to Corylynn, so you will always be greeted by her with a big smile.
Born and raised in Hingham, Corylynn is very involved in her community, her tight-knit group of friends, and her extended family. Outside of work, she continues to explore her passion for food and cooking through part-time catering with a local company. She also loves to travel. A recent trip to Indonesia has inspired her to see more of the world.
