Hingham native Breanne Garland joined our team as a dental assistant in 2001. Over time, she was exposed to many aspects of dentistry and decided she wanted to become more involved in patient care. She trained to become a dental hygienist after seeing how central the role is to the overall function of the practice. She appreciates the opportunity she has each day to provide quality care to our patients and help them establish good oral health habits.
Breanne sees her role as dental hygienist as two-fold: to treat her patients as a clinician and to educate them on oral hygiene. One thing she focuses on teaching patients is that their teeth are a vital part of many daily activities as well as about the important connection between the health of their teeth and gums and their overall health.
Breanne makes it a point to get to know each patient as an individual, so she can provide personalized treatment and home care instructions to help them achieve a beautiful, healthy smile. Seeing her patients develop an interest and understanding about dental health issues (as well as catching up on their lives, careers, travels, and families at each visit) makes Breanne truly enjoy her job.
Working and living in Hingham gives Breanne the unique opportunity to interact with her patients as friends and neighbors outside of the office—at the supermarket, church, library, or community events. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and their family dog. They particularly enjoy doing things together on the water, like fishing and boating.
